IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE JUNE MEETING AND WORKSHOP
Unfortunately, the advertised speaker, Helen Howes, is unable to attend next Thursday's meeting of Hexagon Quilters (16th June 2011). Instead we have invited Delia Salter to speak to us and her talk will be titled 'From Thought to Stitch'. Delia is a local quilt artist and a former member of Hexagon Quilters, perhaps best known for her 'Shipping News' series of quilts that were exhibited at the Festival of Quilts in 2007. Her last exhibition (with Lynne Seaman) consisted of pieces inspired by music - see the review in the May Newsletter. She will also be exhibiting on the Whiteknights Studio Trail on 18/19 June. Please see the Future Program page here. The workshop on Friday has also been cancelled. Members who had booked this will be contacted separately about refunds/return of cheques. We are arranging another time for Helen Howes to visit some time next year so there will be another opportunity for those disappointed this time. As the Cornerstone has already been booked for the workshop, it has been decided to use the venue for an impromptu sewing day. Bring a packed lunch but there will be tea, coffee and biscuits available as usual. It would be particularly good to see new members and those new to patchwork and quilting, to meet new people and share knowledge and skills. This is an ideal opportunity for anybody with a quilt to be layered as they have plenty of big tables, or just come along with your latest sewing project. You don't have to come for the whole day, just drop in for some sewing and chat. The cost will be £5 for the day or £3 for a half day. Finally, please spread the word about the change of speaker to anyone you know who does not use email or who does not look at the website regularly. And of course any non-members that you know who would like to visit to hear Delia's talk.
